Laufende empirische Forschungsprojekte

  • Internationale Motivationsforschung DaF (seit 2004): Im Rahmen einer qualitativen Studie, in der Datenerhebungen v.a. mittels schriftlichen Sprachlernbiographien in unterschiedlichen Ländern durchgeführt werden, stehen transnationale Tendenzen in der Motivation zum Lernen von Deutsch als Fremdsprache im Zentrum des Interesses. Der bisherige Forschungsstand deutet darauf hin, dass insbesondere positive Einstellungen zum Fremdsprachenlernen, instrumentelle Orientierungen und die Wahrnehmung des Deutschen als einer zusätzlichen und herausfordernden Sprache entscheidend dazu beitragen, Deutsch als (Unterrichts- oder Studien-)Fach zu wählen und die Sprache weiter zu erlernen. Aktuell umfasst das Projekt einen Datenbestand aus 20 Ländern von insgesamt 1.180 DaF-Lerner*innen (Armenien, Bosnien und Herzegowina, China, Finnland, Frankreich, Georgien, Griechenland, Kenia, Kroatien, Kuba, Lettland, Madagaskar, Mongolei, Polen, Portugal, Russland, Schweden, Slowakei, Spanien, Taiwan).
  • Professionsforschung Deutsch als Zweitsprache (Projektmitarbeiterin: Nadja Wahbe). Im Rahmen der Teilprojekte „Diagnose- und Förderkompetenz für sprachsensiblen Fachunterricht der Sekundarstufe“ (Teilprojekt im Cluster „Inklusionssensible Diagnose, Förderung und Didaktik‘“ im Bielefelder Forschungsprogramm BiProfessional, Qualitätsoffensive Lehrerbildung; Laufzeit 2016-2019)sowie „Sprachsensibler Fachunterricht der Sekundarstufe – Sprachsensible Diagnose- und Förderkompetenz in der Praxis entwickeln“ (Teilmaßnahme im im Teilprojekt „Inklusionssensible Lehrer- und Lehrerinnenausbildung: Von der Diagnostik zur Förderung und Didaktik“ im Bielefelder Forschungsprogramm BiProfessional, Qualitätsoffensive Lehrerbildung; Laufzeit 2019-2023) wird der Kompetenzerwerb im Bereich der Sprach- und Förderdidaktik durch Lehramtstudierende untersucht. Die Entwicklung sprachsensibler Kompetenz für die bildungssprachliche Förderung des Deutschen als Zweitsprache (DaZ) im Fachunterricht stellt für die Ausbildung angehender Lehrkräfte eine Herausforderung dar. Mit der Teilmaßnahme Sprachsensible Diagnose- und Förderkompetenz in der Praxis entwickeln soll die Kompetenzentwicklung für sprachsensiblen Fachunterricht forschungsgeleitet, theoriebasiert und praxisorientiert vorangebracht werden, indem Konzepte und Materialien für die hochschuldidaktische Lehre entwickelt und erprobt werden, die eine Sensibilisierung für die Sprachförderung DaZ ermöglichen können. Damit zielt die Teilmaßnahme einerseits auf die Weiterentwicklung und Verstetigung eines DaZ-spezifischen Praktikumsformats an der Universität Bielefeld und andererseits auf ein allgemein in der Lehrkräftebildung einsetzbares Konzept zur Sensibilisierung für die Sprachförderung im Fachunterricht. Abgeschlossene (drittmittelfinanzierte) Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekte

  • Dhoch3 – Modul 8 „Fremdsprachenlehren und -lernen erforschen“, 2016-2019(Projektleitung: Claudia Riemer und Sandra Ballweg) (Autor*innen: Sandra Ballweg, Andrea Daase, Monika David, Nazan Gültekin-Karakoc, Silvia Introna, Sabine Jentges, Claudia Riemer, Alejandro Romero, Julia Viering, Kathrin Wild: Für das DAAD-Förderprogramm Dhoch3, ein Angebot zur Unterstützung der akademischen Ausbildung künftiger Deutschlehrender an Schulen und Hochschulen weltweit (auf Masterniveau), wurde ein umfangreiches Modul mit Materialien zur Vorbereitung und Durchführung der forschungsorientierten Lehre sowie zur Vertiefung des wissenschaftlichen Interesses im Themengebiet „Fremdsprachenlehren und –lernen erforschen“ entwickelt. Das Modul verfolgt folgende Fragestellungen und Ziele:Aus der eigenen praktischen Erfahrung als Fremdsprachenlehrende und/oder -lernende ergeben sich zahlreiche offene (Forschungs-) Fragen, so zum Beispiel: Warum machen Lernende immer wieder ähnliche Fehler? Wie lassen sich unterschiedliche Lerngeschwindigkeiten und -erfolge theoretisch modellieren? Welche Faktoren beeinflussen den Lernerfolg positiv oder negativ? Welche didaktischen Prinzipien lassen sich aus diesen Erkenntnissen ableiten? All diese Fragen sind nicht abschließend beantwortet und so werden in diesem Modul Studierende und Lehrende dazu angeregt, mit einem wissenschaftlichen Blick auf Prozesse des Lernens und Lehrens von Deutsch als Fremdsprache in ihrem eigenen Kontext zu schauen und aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse kennenzulernen; auch erhalten sie Anregungen für eigene Forschung. Dazu erfolgt eine Einführung in einige grundlegende Erklärungsmodelle und allgemeine Lerntheorien für Prozesse des Fremdsprachenlernens sowie eine Einführung in forschungsmetho(dolog)ische Fragen und ausgewählte empirische Forschungsmethoden im Bereich des Fremdsprachenlernens. Der Rückbezug auf die eigene praktische Erfahrung wird an vielen Stellen im Modul insbesondere durch Anregungen zur eigenständigen, auch niedrigschwelligen empirischen Arbeit gezielt befördert. Vorhandenes Wissen und Vorerfahrungen können auf diesem Weg einer kritischen Reflexion unterzogen und weiterentwickelt und ggf.   • Miki – Begleitstudie der Bielefelder vorschulischen Sprachförderung für Kinder mit Migrationshintergrund (Drittmittelprojekt 2006-2011, Projektmitarbeiterinnen: Sevilen Demirkaya, Nazan Gültekin): Im Rahmen einer zweijährigen mehrmethodischen Longitudinalstudie wurde die im Kindergartenjahr 2006/2007 in der Stadt Bielefeld eingeführte vorschulische Sprachfördermaßnahme für Kinder mit Migrationshintergrund unter unterschiedlichen Fragestellungen begleitend untersucht. Die Konzeption dieser trägerübergreifenden und flächendeckenden Maßnahme in Tageseinrichtungen für Kinder sieht neben der zweijährigen sprachlichen Förderung der Kinder auch die Kooperation mit ihren Eltern vor. Ziel der wissenschaftlichen Begleitforschung war es, die Maßnahme zu evaluieren und Vorschläge für die Weiterentwicklung der Sprachförderung abzuleiten. Qua Synthese quantitativer und qualitativer Verfahren wird über die Erfassung des Sprachstandes hinaus auch die Entwicklung der Kinder in der Zweitsprache Deutsch beschrieben. Dabei werden mögliche Einflussfaktoren auf den kindlichen L2-Spracherwerb an den Schnittstellen der Fördermaßnahme, Tageseinrichtung und des Elternhauses transparent gemacht. Hierzu sieht das Design der longitudinalen Studie neben der wiederholten Erhebung der kindlichen Sprachdaten auch die Beobachtung der Kinder in der Fördermaßnahme und der Tageseinrichtung vor. Der Einsatz von standardisierten Fragebögen und Leitfadeninterviews gewährleistet zudem ein umfassendes Bild der Perspektive von Akteuren in oben genannten Kontexten. Diese Perspektiven- und auch Methodentriangulation berücksichtigt die entwicklungspsychologisch bedingten Besonderheiten von Vier- bis Sechsjährigen.
  • PunktUm: Beratung und Training für internationale Studierende an der Universität Bielefeld (Drittmittelprojekt, Projektleitung 2002-2008, Projektmitarbeiter*innen: Heike Brandl u.a.): Im 1998 gegründeten Projekt wurden eine Anlaufstelle und vielfältige Maßnahmen zur Förderung der wissenschaftsprachlichen Kompetenz in der deutschen Sprache von internationalen Studierenden entwickelt und angeboten. Die Angebote umfassen Workshops und Kurse zum akademischen Schreiben und wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten in der Fremdsprache Deutsch - differenziert nach fachlichen und sprachlichen Voraussetzungen bzw. Anforderungen für internationale Studierende in Bachelor-, Master-, Magister-, Diplom- und Promotionsstudiengängen sowie individuelle Schreibberatung - auch Multiplikatorenausbildung für die Übernahme entsprachender Unterstützungs- und Lehrmaßnahmen wurden parallel umgesetzt. Über die Angebote zum akademischen Schreiben und wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten hinaus wurde PunktUm zum Deutschsprachzentrum der Universität Bielefeld ausgebaut, an dem ergänzend zum o.g. Angebot zielgruppenspezifische Deutschkurse für Promovierende, Gastwissenschaftler*innen in englischsprachigen ‚Graduate Schools’ sowie spezielle Angebote für Austauschstudierende im Rahmen internationaler Hochschulkooperationen durchgeführt werden. 2008 wurde PunktUm am International Office der Universität verdauert und ist seit 2018 Abteilung am International Office.
