Das Wort Didaktik leitet sich vom griechischen Wort für "lehren" und "lernen" ab. Entsprechend fragt die Pädagogik nach der Gestaltung von Unterrichtsprozessen. (Religions-)pädagogische Konzeptionen bilden das tragende Fundament für die (fach-)didaktische Umsetzung. Deshalb besteht die Notwendigkeit, sich über dieses Fundament zu verständigen. Eine zeitgemäße Religionspädagogik orientiert sich hier an den Diskursen in der Pädagogik und wendet diese auf sich an. Konstruktivismus und Systemtheorie sind zwei zentrale Konzepte dabei. Im Zentrum der Unterrichtsgeschehen stehen die Schüler*innen mit ihren Vorstellungen. Diese Konstrukte wollen miteinander ins Gespräch gebracht werden, das ist die konstruktivistische Seite. Systemisch deshalb, weil jeder Mensch nicht für sich existiert, sondern immer in Systeme (Familie, Verein, Schule, Freundeskreis) eingebunden ist.
