Die Vorlesung gewährt einen Überblick zu zentralen allegorischen Bildkonzepten, wie sie vom späten Mittelalter bis in die Frühe Neuzeit in verschiedener Form erprobt wurden. Exemplarisch soll dabei an Werken von Giotto bis Rubens der Wandel von Bildallegorien aufgezeigt werden, wie sie sich aus dem Zusammenwirken verschiedener medialer Ausdrucksformen ergeben.
