Im Seminar soll sich mit verschiedenen Medientheorien, -ansätzen und -perspektiven auseinandergesetzt werden. Der Fokus steht dabei auf Fragen nach dem Verhältnis von Medien zu Kultur, Macht und Gesellschaft sowie Medien als soziale Umwelt.
Mit einem zusammen erarbeiteten Kriterienkatalog sollen im Verlauf der Veranstaltung die Theorien erschlossen, bewertet und nebeneinander gestellt werden können. Ziel der Veranstaltung ist neben dem Erwerb von Grundkenntnissen zu den im Seminar bearbeitenden Medientheorien die kritische Reflexionsfähigkeit im Umgang mit diesen Theorien. Die Ergebnisse sollen an ausgewählten Phänomenen gegenwärtiger (digitaler) Medienwirklichkeit ansatzweise erprobt und überprüft werden.
