Einbildungskraft, Phantasie, Imagination gelten als grundlegendes Vermögen menschlicher Kreativität. Die Vorlesung erkundet die aktuellen theoretischen Bestimmungen der Imagination und Einbildungskraft, widmet sich der langen und wechselhaften Geschichte ihrer Begründungen und Kritik und nimmt dabei vor allem die medialen Bedingungen und Präsentationsformen der Imagination näher in den Blick. Exemplarisch diskutiert werden dabei vor allem Literatur und Kunst des 17. bis 19. Jahrhunderts.
