250202 Forced Migrants in Europe: Causes of Fleeing and Challenges of Integration? (S) (SoSe 2020)

Contents, comment

In this seminar, I will explain the basic terms and concepts in the field of forced migration studies. I will start with the situation inside the origin countries of refugees with a particular focus on the situation in the Arabic states. I will discuss the situation of the Arabic states in a historical and cultural context to explain the reasons of the state failure there. We link this background situation to the revolution in the Arab world that started in 2010 and understand how this creates forced migration push factors. Then, I will illustrate the situation of refugees inside the host countries (integration policies and challenges of integration). We will mainly focus on the situation in Germany.
