This seminar discusses global social policy in its dimension of global social redistribution. It applies theoretical perspectives of justice to phenomena of global social redistribution. The seminar covers issues of global social policy and its governance and theories of (social) justice applied nationally and internationally. Examples used to illustrate the conceptual and theoretical approaches comprise the Sustainable Development Goals, Global Taxes, and the Piketty debate.
The preparatory reading and any other material will be in English and may include secondary literature, as well as original documents, journal articles and other material such as films. The course language (lectures and presentations) will be in English as well. Therefore, a very good command of English is important for participating in the course.
I hope for a diverse group of students with different disciplinary and national backgrounds and international experience.
The seminar will be comprised of a mix between flexible learning units and zoom sessions. (No sessions in person!)
Literature and other material will be made available in LernraumPlus.
