220053 Determinanten ökonomischer Globalisierung in der Frühen Neuzeit (S) (WiSe 2019/2020)

Bitte beachten: Aus dienstlichen Gründen beginnt die Veranstaltung erst in der zweiten Semesterwoche!

Ob die Prozesse der Herausbildung und des Zusammenwachsens einer Weltwirtschaft in der Frühen Neuzeit sinnvoll als erstes Stadium einer ökonomischen „Globalisierung“ verstanden werden können, hängt wesentlich von den Faktoren ab, die herangezogen werden, um „Globalisierung“ zu messen. In der aktuellen wirtschaftshistorischen Forschung besteht zu dieser Frage keine einhellige Meinung. Das Seminar wird verschiedene Forschungsansätze rekapitulieren, diese auf einschlägige Forschungsgegenstände beziehen und hierbei die Beziehungen europäischer Akteure zu den Amerikas, Afrika und Asien in den Blick nehmen. Das Seminar wird überwiegend mit englischsprachiger Forschungsliteratur arbeiten, hierbei aber konsequent die Frage nach der Verfügbarkeit aussagekräftiger Quellen problematisieren.
