Zoé fährt mit ihrem Auto und ist tief in Gedanken versunken. Sie schaltet gekonnt die Gänge um, wechselt die Fahrspur, macht Kurven und denkt dabei an etwas Anderes. Plötzlich bemerkt sie, dass es mehr Verkehr gibt und richtet ihre Aufmerksamkeit auf das Fahren, auf Hindernisse, und das fachmännische Wechseln der Fahrspuren. Als sie das Durcheinander beseitigt, geht sie gedanklich zurück zum Autopiloten und richtet ihre Aufmerksamkeit wieder auf den vorherigen Gedankengang.
Aufmerksamkeit ist eine Herausforderung für die Philosophie. Sie bestimmt nicht nur was wir sehen, hören, fühlen und schmecken. Sie bestimmt auch wie gut wir etwas wahrnehmen. Sie wandert wie ein Lichtstrahl durch unser Wahrnehmungsfeld und ermöglicht uns einen bewussten Zugang in die Welt. Zu verstehen, was Aufmerksamkeit ist und welche Rolle sie im (und für den) menschlichen Geist spielt, ist von zentraler Bedeutung in der Philosophie des Geistes und der Erkenntnistheorie.Im Seminar wollen wir uns mit einflussreichen philosophischen Texten beschäftigen, in denen unter anderem folgende Fragen zentral sind: Was ist Aufmerksamkeit und wie beeinflusst sie unsere phänomenale Wahrnehmung der Welt? Kann es Aufmerksamkeit ohne phänomenales Bewusstsein geben? Kann es sogar phänomenales Bewusstsein ohne Aufmerksamkeit geben? Ist Aufmerksamkeit notwendig für veridische Wahrnehmung? Benötigen wir Aufmerksamkeit bei der Rechtfertigung von Überzeugungen?

Abschluss des ersten Studienjahres.
Es sind keine speziellen Vorkenntnisse zur Forschung über Aufmerksamkeit, Bewusstsein oder Wahrnehmung notwendig.
