220054 Der griechisch-römische Mittelmeerraum und die Welt der Nomaden (S) (WiSe 2019/2020)

Das Verhältnis zwischen den urbanen Kulturen des Mittelmeerraums und Voderasiens und den nomadischen (Reiter-)kulturen der nördlichen und südlichen Peripherie bildet eines der zentralen Funktionselemente Antiker Geschichte seit der Archaik bis in die Spätantikle hinein. Das Seminar wird sich chronologisch mit wesentlichen Kontaktsitationen und Strukturphänomem auseinandersetzen, wobei im Vordergrund das Verhältnis mediterraner Akteure zu den asiatischen Reitervölkern (Skythen, Alanen, Hunnen) und zu den arabischen Nomaden stehen wird. Alle Quellen werden ist deutscher Übersetzung vorgelegt.
