Das Verhalten von Tieren ist vielfältig: Sie suchen Nahrung, verteidigen ihr Territorium, werben um Partner und fliehen vor Fressfeinden. Doch was denken Tiere, wenn sie sich so verhalten? Denken sie überhaupt etwas? Beschreiben wir sie korrekt, wenn wir von ihnen sagen, dass sie bestimmte Dinge glauben, wünschen, befürchten oder erwarten?

In diesem Seminar werden wir uns mit verschiedenen Aspekten der philosophischen Debatte um den Geist der Tiere beschäftigen. Neben der Frage, ob Tiere denken können, sollen auch Fragen zur Wahrnehmung, zum phänomenalen Bewusstsein und zu metakognitiven Fähigkeiten von Tieren behandelt werden.
