230212 Literary Theory: From Feminist Criticism to Postcolonial Theory and Ecocriticism (S) (WiSe 2025/2026)

In this seminar, we read and critically discuss essential contribution to the theoretical fields of Feminist Criticism (including Gender Studies, Queer Theory, Masculinity Studies, Intersectionality), Postcolonial Theory (including Critical Race Theory and decolonial perspectives) and Ecocriticism (including concepts such as the Anthropocene and Environmental Justice approaches) and connect them to the analysis of literary texts. Participants get learn about the genesis of theoretical strands in teh field of (British and American) Literary and Cultural Studies and beyond, since most critical approaches stem from and are applicable to interdisciplinary and transnational contexts.
