Seit jeher debattieren Sozialtheoretiker und Soziologen darüber, ob Konflikte soziale Beziehungen sprengen oder das Potential haben, sie anhand eines ‚Gegeneinander-Handelns‘ zusammenzuhalten. Das Seminar rekonstruiert die klassischen Positionen der soziologischen Theorie, die sich mit der Frage befasst und unterschiedlich beantwortet haben. Darunter die Ansätze von Karl Marx, Ferdinand Tönnies, Emile Durkheim, Georg Simmel, Max Weber, Robert Park, Talcott Parsons, Robert Merton, Lewis A. Coser, Ralf Dahrendorf und Niklas Luhmann.
