Im Seminar beschäftigen wir uns kritisch-reflexiv mit der Kategorie "Kultur" als machtvolle Unterscheidungspraxis. Aus rassismuskritischen Perspektiven und in einem diskursanalytischen Zugang gehen wir Bezugnahmen auf "Kultur" und damit hervorgebrachtem Wissen im pädagogischen Diskurs nach. Erörtert wird in diesem Zusammenhang die Bedeutung von Kulturalisierungskritik im Kontext von Bildung. Diskutiert wird vor diesem Hintergrund auch das Konstrukt der "interkulturellen Kompetenz", welchem in der pädagogischen Arbeit als Anforderung an professionelle Akteur*innen und auch darüber hinaus des Öfteren der Stellenwert einer Schlüsselqualifikation zugeschrieben wird. In den Blick genommen werden disziplinäre wie gesellschaftspolitische Kontexte, innerhalb welcher die Kategorie "Kultur" relevant gesetzt wird und wurde. Ein weiterer Fokus im Seminar liegt auf der klassenbezogenen Dimension sozialer Ungleichheit und ihrer Verhandlung in Bildungsdiskursen.
Zu Beginn werden wir uns im Seminar gemeinsam über die Arbeitsformen verständigen. Angeboten werden Möglichkeiten der Auseinandersetzung mit Texten in englisch und deutsch als Wissenschaftssprache.
