Unsere Sprache ist nicht nur ein wunderbares Mittel zur Kommunikation, Koordination und sozialen Ermächtigung. Unsere Sprache ein Mittel der Manipulation, Abwertung und Ausgrenzung. Dabei liegen der guten und der bösen Seite der Sprache oftmals genau dieselben generellen sprachlichen Mechanismen – z.B. aufgeladene Begriffe (thick concepts), Implikaturen, Präsuppositionen, Akkommodationen, Metaphern – zugrunde.
Im Seminar wollen einen genauen sprachphilosophischen Blick auf ausgewählte sprachliche Mechanismen und ihre Doppelnatur werfen. Im Einklang mit der neueren Literatur wird dabei die böse Seite der Sprache mit ihren negativen Effekten im Vordergrund stehen.
Für das Seminar sind Vorkenntnisse in der Sprachphilosophie hilfreich, aber nicht unabdingbar.
Wenn Sie vorab etwas lesen wollen, können Sie in das Buch Bad Language von Cappelen und Dever schauen.
Achtung! In unserer Diskussion werden wir zuweilen wirklich üble Ausdrücke in den Mund nehmen müssen. Dass diese Ausdrücke dabei gleichsam in Anführungszeichen vorkommen, nimmt ihnen leider nicht ihre anstößige oder verstörende Wirkung. Bitte stellen Sie sich darauf ein, wenn Sie dieses Seminar besuchen.
