Im Rahmen des Seminars geht es zum einen um die Frage, wie Governance-Arrangements die Erzeugung, Geltung und Verbreitung von Wissen regulieren (Governance von Wissen). Zum anderen wird untersucht, wie Wissen in Form von Expertise und Leitorientierungen als Bestandteil von Governance wirkt (Governance durch Wissen). Während sich ein Großteil von Debatten zur Wissensgesellschaft, zur Wissensökonomie und zur Wissenspolitik auf die Optionen von Wissen konzentriert, soll vor allem geprüft werden, wie Wissen sich selbst zum Problem wird und wie Governance-Entscheidungen sich auf die ambivalenten Folgen gesellschaftlicher Wissensproduktion einstellen.
