Die Sozialtheorie Pierre Bourdieus ist gegenwärtig einer der einflussreichsten Großentwürfe der Soziologie. Sie bietet ein immenses Potential für die Untersuchung von Religion. Allerdings hat Bourdieu selbst sich nur am Rande mit Religion beschäftigt. Das hat dazu geführt, dass seine Soziologie (anders als etwa die Wissenssoziologie Bergers und Luckmanns) kaum in die Religionsforschung Eingang gefunden hat. Gerade deshalb lohnt es sich, das Potenzial des Ansatzes für die Religionswissenschaft zu erschließen.
Bourdieu selbst hat sich in seinen Arbeiten zur Religion auf die Strukturen des religiösen Feldes konzentriert. In diesem Seminar werden diese Arbeiten genau kennenlernen und sie darüber hinaus mit dem darüber hinausgehenden soziologischen Ansatz Bourdieus verbinden.
Das Seminar richtet sich an Studierende höherer Studiensemester.
