In recent years there is a significant increase in research on the concept of well-being from a multidisciplinary scope. Nevertheless, there are still major difficulties in defining what constitutes a “good life”. GDP has long been regarded as the main measure of people’s well-being. The human development index proposed by the OECD has also led to many measures, at a multidimensional level. This seminar addresses the issues of defining and comparing indicators of children’s well-being in a global perspective: It explains the variety of indicators available to children’s well-being measurement from an adult and a child’s perspective, the strengths and weaknesses of each measure and provides an overview of the research studies on the subject matter.
The winter school is a compact course that deals with the above-mentioned topic. Lectures on specific topics in the field, and self-organised group and individual work will be available during the week. International guest lecturers will be invited for theoretical and research inputs.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
