Wir lesen Cervantes Don Quijote (erster Teil 1605, zweiter Teil 1615).
Mit unserer Lektüre und der daran anschließenden Analyse ausgewählter Kapitel werden wir einer Vielzahl von Fragestellungen nachgehen, die sich insbesondere auf den Weltentwurf der Erzählung (Don Quijote) und die Weltentwürfe des Erzählens konzentrieren werden. Dabei werden und sollten wir klären, was es mit dem "Roman" in der frühen Neuzeit (und den folgenden Jahrhundertern) auf sich hat und auch welche ästhetischen und kulturellen Einsichten uns diese in vielerlei Hinsicht außergewöhnliche Erzählung bietet.
Vermittelt werden dabei u.a. Grundlagen der Erzähl- und Romananalyse, aber auch der Umgang mit kulturtheoretischen Modellen in den Diensten der Literaturwissenschaft.Wir werden den Roman nach Möglichkeit (d.h. abhängig von Sprachkenntnissen) sowohl in Spanischer (Ausgabe von Catedra/Letras Hispánicas oder der edición conmemorativa de la RAE) als auch in deutscher Sprache (in der aktuellen Übersetzung von Susanne Lange) lesen.
Die Lektüre des Romans gilt idealerweise zu Semesterbeginn als vorausgesetzt.
