Max Weber gilt als Klassiker der Sozialwissenschaften. Neben inhaltlichen Studien hat Weber sich Zeit seines Lebens auch mit der Wissenschaftstheorie seines Gebietes beschäftigt. Ihn bewegte vor allem das Problem, inwieweit die Sozialwissenschaften eine andere Art der Erklärung liefern als die Naturwissenschaften. Da im Bereich des Sozialen menschliches Handeln eine Rolle spielt, stellten sich Fragen wie: Ist Verstehen etwas anderes als Erklären? Kann es sozialwissenschaftliche Gesetzesaussagen geben? Welche Rolle spielt Rationalität in soziologischen Untersuchungen? Nicht zuletzt interessierte Weber die vermeintliche Wertfreiheit wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnis – und allgemeiner das Problem, ob sich Werte begründen lassen. In dieser Hinsicht leistet seine Wissenschaftslehre auch einen interessanten Beitrag zur praktischen Philosophie. In der Veranstaltung werden wir einschlägige Aufsätze von Max Weber gründlich analysieren und diskutieren.
Im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltung können maximal 15 Hausarbeiten geschrieben werden.

Empfohlene Vorkenntnisse:
Abschluss des ersten Studienjahres (beide Grundkurse, Philosophischer Einstieg und Philosophisches Schreiben).
