Die Veranstaltung versteht sich als einführendes Grundlagenseminar zum Thema Game Studies. Neben spieltheoretischen Ansätzen werden narratologische Phänomene, wie zum Beispiel ludonarrative Dissonanzen, ebenso behandelt wie gängige Genresysteme, Fragen der medienspezifischen Besonderheiten des Videosspiels oder Theorien der Medienwirkungsforschung. Die Arbeit im Seminar findet auf der Grundlage regelmäßiger Textarbeit statt.
