220106 Strukturen einer Weltgeschichte der Antike (S) (SoSe 2018)

Das Seminar sucht anhand von wesentlichen Strukturthemen (Urbanität, monarchische Herrschaft/Imperiale Reichsbildungen, Verhältnis Ackerbaukulturen-Hirtennomaden, Migration und Fernhandel) wesentliche historische Formationsfaktoren vergleichend zu untersuchen, welche die Geschichte des Mittelmeeraums, des vorderen Orients, Indiens und Chinas gleichermaßen prägten und als Bausteine einer neuen Art der Weltgeschichte Eurasiens dienen könnten. Hierzu wird ein Zeitfenster gewählt, was sich grob vom 6. Jh. v. bis zu, 2. Jh. n.Chr bewegt und historisch ausagekräftige Konstellationen exemplarisch untersucht. Dazu wird es nötig sein, sich jeweils einen Überblick über die wesentlichen Bedingungen auch derjenigen Kulturen zu verschaffen, die dem Althistoriker eher fremd sind (Indien, China). Der Lehrende stellt dazu die Quellen (in deutsch) und eine Auswahl einschlägiger Sekundärliteratur zur Verfügung.

Ein Besuch der zeitlich unmittelbar verknüpften LV zur historischen Kontextualisierung ist obligatorisch.
