220002 Kolonisation und Kolonialismus in Mittelalter und Früher Neuzeit (V+Ü) (WiSe 2022/2023)

Dauer und Wandel von historischen Phänomenen wie Kolonien und Kolonialreichen sollen im epochenübergreifenden Blick thematisiert werden. Mittelalterliche Kontinuitäten von Eroberung, Besiedlung und Mission sowie frühneuzeitliche Dynamiken der Expansion und des Imperialismus können im diachronen Vergleich eine vormoderne und moderne Andersartigkeit aufzeigen. Europäische koloniale Gesellschaften, die resultierenden Verflechtungen von globalen Räumen und die Rückwirkungen auf den sog. Westen werden in ihrem wechselvollen Verhältnis zueinander betrachtet. Im Zentrum der Veranstaltung stehen die Schriftquellen, bildlichen Darstellungen und nichttextlichen Hinterlassenschaften dieser grundlegenden Beziehungen.
