Am 28. November 1820 wurde in der heutigen Stadt Wuppertal Friedrich Engels als Sohn eines Fabrikbesitzers geboren. Er kam in Kontakt mit Karl Marx und beide wurden zu Freunden und Weggefährten. Zusammen entwickelten sie ihre Philosophie, die als Kommunismus in die Geschichte eingegangen ist. Gerade die Arbeiter*innen in den Fabriken, die völlig ausgebeutet wurden, lagen Engels am Herzen. Das Seminar möchte das Jubiläum zum Anlass nehmen, über die Weltanschauung Friedrich Engels' interdisziplinär zu arbeiten. Aus Sicht der Islamischen Theologie, der Praktischen Philosophie und der Evangelischen Theologie werden wir uns einem der wichtigsten Denker des 19. Jahrhunderts in pädagogischer Perspektive nähern und danach fragen, was er uns heute zu sagen hat. Das Seminar ist eine Kooperationsveranstaltung mit der Praktischen Philosophie, Islamischen Theologie und Evangelischen Theologie an der Universität Paderborn.
