"Cinema is a matter of what’s in the frame and what’s out." -- Martin Scorsese

Anhand ausgewählter Lektüre erarbeiten wir wichtige Positionen, Konzepte, Modelle und Methoden der Filmtheorie und überprüfen diese an Hand ausgewählter Filmbeispiele auf ihre Anwendungsrelevanz hin. Herzstück des Lektüreteils ist der großartige, konzise Einführungsband von Thomas Elsaesser und Malte Hagener, dessen Anschaffung den Teilnehmer*innen dringend empfohlen wird. Weiterhin werden wir uns mit einem Besuch des fabelhaften Film und Musik Fests 2025 der F.W. Murnau Gesellschaft - einem Festival des Stummfilms mit Live-Musik - Einblicke in die historische Aufführungspraxis des frühen Films verschaffen.
