220045 Einführung in die Historische Bildwissenschaft (GST) (WiSe 2013/2014)

Bilder dienen nicht allein dazu, historische Ereignisse und Entwicklungen darzustellen, sondern intervenieren ihrerseits wirkungsvoll in geschichtlichen Prozessen. Eine Historische Bildwissenschaft darf sich daher nicht auf die Aufgaben einer Hilfswissenschaft reduzieren und kann sich nicht auf einzelne – realienkundliche oder ikonographische – Aspekte von Bildern beschränken. Vielmehr muss sie auch zu der Grundfrage vorstoßen, wie Bilder Sinn generieren und eine eigene Wirkmacht gewinnen. Das Seminar soll sich dieser Fragestellung nähern, indem es eine breite Auswahl von relevanten methodischen Ansätzen vorstellt. Neben form- und stilgeschichtlichen Grundlagen sowie klassischen ikonographischen Forschungen sollen semiotische, rezeptionsästhetische, phänomenologische und psychoanalytische Ansätze sowie neuere methodische Konzepte wie die Actor-Network-Theory zur Diskussion gestellt werden. Alle methodischen Ansätze werden an Bildbeispielen vom Mittelalter bis zur Gegenwart erprobt.

Während des Semesters geben einige kleinere Übungsaufgaben Gelegenheit, die Arbeit mit Bildern an konkreten Beispielen zu erproben. Das Seminar wird mit einer kurzen mündlichen Prüfung abgeschlossen, deren erfolgreicher Abschluss den regelmäßigen Besuch der Veranstaltung voraussetzt.
