Contents, comment

Spätestens seit der Durchsetzung des Globalisierungsbegriffs in den 1990er Jahren, klingt die Forderung, die Soziologie müsse einen auf Nationalstaaten begrenzten Blick überwinden, ganz selbstverständlich. Damit ist aber noch nicht geklärt, wie eine solche Forderung theoretisch einzuholen ist. Im Zentrum dieser Veranstaltung steht das Konzept der Weltgesellschaft, wie es insbesondere von Niklas Luhmann entwickelt wurde. Der Kurs vertieft dies unter theoretischen wie auch empirischen Gesichtspunkten. Kontrastierend werden dabei auch alternative Globalkonzeptionen betrachtet. Zu diesen Angeboten sind zu rechnen: das Konzept der multiplen Moderne, die Weltsystemtheorie, die Weltkulturthese, die Globalisierungstheorien (wie bei Giddens und Robertson) sowie die kosmopolitische Soziologie (Beck).
