220104 Konflikte um Umwelt, Land und Entwicklung in Lateinamerika (S) (SoSe 2013)

Die weltweit hohen Rohstoffpreise führen derzeit in Lateinamerika zu einem beschleunigten Abbau von Ressourcen und einer erneuten Welle der Umverteilung von Land sowie massiver Umweltzerstörung. Dies ist jedoch keineswegs so neu wie diese, neuerdings unter dem Stichwort „Neoextraktivismus“ diskutierte Entwicklung scheint: Seit der europäischen Eroberung wird in Lateinamerika Natur angeeignet, Land kolonisiert und es erfolgen damit weitreichende Eingriffe in die dortigen Ökosysteme. Welche Vorstellungen und Entwicklungshoffnungen liegen dieser Inwertsetzung zu Grunde und was sind die sozialen und ökologischen Kosten dieses Prozesses? Welche sozialen und Konflikte sind damit verbunden?
Ziel des Seminars ist es die Geschichte und Gegenwart der sozial-ökologischen Fragen in Lateinamerika zu durchdringen und dabei konkurrierende Entwicklungsparadigmen, politische Handlungsstrategien, die Rolle verschiedener Akteure, veränderte Konfliktkonstellationen sowie das Verhältnis zwischen Umwelt und sozialer Ungleichheit auszuloten.
