220091 People at Court: The Development of the English Common Law in the Late Middle Ages (S) (WiSe 2022/2023)

What is medieval common law? And how did people aact at court? What kinds of possibilities were in place for litigation and who had access to them?
These are some of the questions that will be addressed during the course of the seminar.
Students are expected to develop own questions on the topic and design small projects that will be at the center of their seminar paper.
It could be helpful to combine the seminar with the introductory seminar on "Medieval Common Law" (220177).
