Spätestens seit der Brexit-Kampagne und der Regentschaftsräte von
Donald Trump kursieren Begriffe wie “Fake News” und “postfaktisch” in
der Medienwelt. Häufig wird die Sorge ausgedrückt, dass die Wahrheit
von Nachrichten an Relevanz verliere, da immer mehr Falschnachrichten
bzw. Desinformation kursieren würden. Nun sind Propaganda und Lügen
keine neuen Phänomene. Neu sind lediglich ihre Verbreitungswege über
unterschiedliche digitale Kanäle. Als Rezipient:innen von Informationen
stehen wir vor neuen Herausforderungen, wenn wir ihre
Vertrauenswürdigkeit einschätzen müssen.
In diesem Seminar nähern wir uns dem Thema aus der Sicht der
Erkenntnistheorie. Diese Unterdisziplin der Philosophie beschäftigt
sich seit Jahrtausenden mit Begriffen wie “Wahrheit” und “Wissen” sowie
mit der Frage, unter welchen Bedingungen unsere Überzeugungen
gerechtfertigt sind. Wir werden behandeln, wie die zeitgenössische
Philosophie zentrale Begriffe der Erkenntnistheorie versteht und was
sie zu aktuellen Debatten über Desinformation beizutragen hat. Da nicht
alle Texte auf Deutsch vorliegen, wird ein größerer Teil der Lektüre
auf Englisch sein.
Diese Veranstaltung ist ein Lehrprojekt im Rahmen der CoP "Public Humanities" des BiLinked-Projekts.
