Protojesaja wird als Text detailliert bearbeitet und mit historischen Begebenheiten in Verbindung gebracht. Neben dem Primärtext werden verschiedene Kommentare gelesen, die in den Sitzungen in Gruppenarbeit und im Plenum miteinander besprochen und verglichen werden. Dazu werden fachdidaktische Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten diskutiert.

Für die Bescheinigung einer aktiven Teilnahme wird eine regelmäßige Teilnahme gefordert, diese äußert sich in aktiver Beteiligung in der Sitzung, vorbereitender Lektüre der Texte, Teilnahme an den Gruppenarbeiten und Diskussionen. Zusätzlich wird entweder die Vorstellung der Ergebnisse in Form eines Kurzvortrags oder die Anfertigung eines Protokolls übernommen. Wer einen benoteten Schein benötigt, kann je nach Studienordnung eine Exegese, eine Klausur oder eine mündliche Prüfung ablegen.
