In der Fan Fiction lassen sich ganz unterschiedliche Formen und Genres des literarischen Schaffens und kreativen Kommunizierens beobachten. LeserInnen werden zu aktiven Wreadern, die in weltweit vernetzten Diskursgemeinschaften auf Plattformen wie www.fanfiktion.de und www.wattpad.com hunderttausende Fan-Fiktionen allein für »Bücher« als Prätext (neben solcher für Stars verschiedenster Couleur) schreiben und kommentieren. Dabei wird auf ein breites literarisches Spektrum abgedeckt zwischen Klassikern der Kinder-/Jugend- und Phantastischen Literatur sowie populären Werken. In textorientierten Datenwissenschaften (in der Computerlinguistik und den Digital Humanities) ist Fan Fiction ein beliebter Gegenstand, da sich hier anhand von größeren Datenmengen Aspekte kultureller Produktion und Perzeption mit automatischen Methoden untersuchen lassen.
In unserem interdisziplinären Seminar werden wir gemeinsam literatur- und datenwissenschaftliche Ansätze zur Untersuchung von Fan Fiction in den Blick nehmen. Aus literarischer Perspektive fragen wir nach dem «Phänomen Fan Fiction», seinen Funktionen und Merkmalen, besonders hinsichtlich Figuren, Plot, narrativen Strategien und Gattungen. Aus datenwissenschaftlicher Perspektive besprechen wir, wie Fan Fiction-Daten strukturiert, repräsentiert sowie automatisch analysiert werden können.
Erwünscht ist die Bereitschaft Lektüretexte auch auf Englisch zu lesen. Es sind keine Vorkenntnisse im Programmieren erforderlich – die Einarbeitung in die Software erfolgt im Seminar. Günstige Voraussetzung für eine erfolgreiche Seminarteilnahme ist die Bereitschaft, sich mit einem Gegenwartsphänomen ("Fan Fiction") zusammen mit Studierenden aus einer anderen Fachrichtung auseinanderzusetzen und die Datenauswertung in kleinen Projektgruppen vorzunehmen.
