Platons "Politeia" ("Der Staat") fehlt in keiner Liste philosophischer Klassiker. Das Buch ist ein Grundlagentext der Philosophie, den jede/r Philosophiestudent/in einmal gelesen haben sollte. In dem Buch behandelt Platon ein weites Spektrum von Themen: Es reicht von grundlegenden Überlegungen zur Gerechtigkeit über eine Theorie der Tugenden bis zum Entwurf eines Idealstaates. Die Idee der Philosophenherrschaft findet sich in dem Buch ebenso wie das berühmte Höhlengleichnis.
Der Schwerpunkt des Seminars wird in der intensiven Lektüre, Analyse und Diskussion des Textes liegen. Darüber hinaus werden wir einige Texte kennenlernen, die sich mit Platons Ideen kritisch auseinandersetzen.
Das Seminar wird vollständig online stattfinden. Dennoch ist es eine interaktive Veranstaltung, zu der es gehört, dass sich alle sehen und miteinander sprechen können. Eine Teilnahme ist daher nur dann sinnvoll, wenn Sie sich über Zoom sichtbar machen. Dementsprechend erwarte ich von allen Teilnehmern, dass sie ihre Kamera durchgehend einschalten.
