Die Vorlesung gibt einen umfassenden Überblick in historische, beratungstheoretische und methodische Fragestellungen über die Beratung in der Pädagogik. Vorgestellt werden ebenso wichtige Pioniere, ihre Methoden als auch Positionen und Konzepte in der pädagogische Beratung. Besonders herausgearbeitet werden die beiden Seiten der Beratung als ethisches Handeln auf der einen Seite und als Machtform auf der anderen Seite. Im letzten Drittel der Vorlesung geht es zudem um Methoden und Verstehen in der Beratung.
