Unlängst forderte der CSU-Landesgruppenchef Alexander Dobrindt eine "konservative Revolution". Was impliziert diese Formulierung und welche historischen Anleihen nimmt sie? Das sind Fragen, die einen unmittelbaren Bogen zwischen aktueller Tagespolitik und geschichtlichen Prozessen schlagen.
Im Seminar werden unterschiedliche methodische und theoretische Herangehensweisen an gesellschaftliche Umbrüche und politische Umstürze in der Europäischen Geschichte erarbeitet. Das Interesse richtet sich dabei auf ihre Bedeutungen im Kontext einer Europäischen Gesellschaftsgeschichte. Ost- und Westeuropa werden gleichermaßen berücksichtigt, so dass wir Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten im Vergleich zwischen den europäischen Gesellschaften diskutiert werden. Im Fokus werden verschiedene Formen von Unruhen stehen: Unter anderem der Dekabristen-Aufstand, die Polnischen Aufstände, die Julirevolution von 1830, der Schlesische Weberaufstand von 1844, die Revolution von 1848, die Russischen Revolutionen von 1905 und 1917 sowie die Deutsche Revolution 1918.
