Was ist Handlungsfähigkeit? Was heißt es, zu handeln? Was unterscheidet Handeln von bloßem Verhalten? In diesem Seminar werden wir uns diesen Fragen auf eine besondere Weise widmen, nämlich über den Blick auf die mögliche Handlungsfähigkeit von nicht-menschlichen Organismen.

Der philosophische Handlungsbegriff geht gemeinhin von menschlichem Handeln aus. Im Fokus der Analyse stehen daher oft Intentionalität, Rationalität, mentale Zustände, usw. Sind diese Aspekte notwendige Bestandteile dessen, was Handlungen ausmacht? Oder können auch Lebewesen mit weniger komplexen kognitiven Systemen Verhalten zeigen, das sich sinnvoll als Handeln beschreiben oder erklären lässt? Was erwarten wir überhaupt vom Handlungsbegriff, welche epistemische Rolle soll er spielen? Vor diesem Hintergrund beschäftigen wir uns in diesem Seminar mit Texten zur sogenannten "organismal agency".

Diese Veranstaltung kann als Handwerksseminar im Rahmen des Philosophischen Einstiegs gewählt werden.
