In dieser Veranstaltung sollen an Soziologie interessierte Studentinnen und Studenten mit den Grundlagen der Spieltheorie vertraut gemacht werden.
Die Spieltheorie konzentriert sich, wie ihr Name mit einem leider etwas unglücklichen Beigeschmack bereits andeutet, auf Situationen, die sich bei hinreichender Abstraktion wie ein Gesellschaftsspiel, also ein Spiel mit klaren Zugmöglichkeiten und klaren Zielen begreifen lassen und bei denen typischer Weise der Erfolg oder Misserfolg des eigenen Verhaltens und der eigenen Spielstrategie vom Verhalten und der Strategiewahl der anderen Spieler abhängt.
Die Spieltheorie arbeitet mit heroischen Vereinfachungen, wirkt also oft bis zur Lächerlichkeit realitätsfremd. Sie erlaubt es aufgrund solcher Abstraktionen aber zuweilen gerade auch bestimmte Situationen in einer Weise auszuleuchten, die auszuformulieren den eher prosaischen Theorien der Soziologie unerreichbar ist und sollte sich so - mindestens streckenweise - als eine ideale Ergänzung zur manchmal doch recht geschwurbelt wirkenden Theoriediskussion unseres Fachs erweisen.
