Das Seminar thematisiert ausgewählte Einsichten der sozialwissenschaftlichen Erforschung von Polizeiarbeit und ihrer rechtsstaatlichen Rahmung. Anhand dieser Forschungen gehen wir zugleich der Frage nach, worin eigentlich die Besonderheiten einer Soziologie der Polizei liegen und welchen auch methodischen Schwierigkeiten sie sich ausgesetzt sieht. Die theoretischen Grundlagen sind vor allem der Organisations- und Professionssoziologie entnommen.
