Das Seminar behandelt Globalisierung als wichtige Dimension von Modernisierungsprozessen. Wir behandeln den Zeitraum zwischen Sattelzeit und Ersten Weltkrieg und nehmen ausgehend vom deutschen Kontext globale Verflechtungen in den Blick. Schwerpunkte bilden u.a. Migration, wirtschaftliche Integration, europäische Expansion und Ideentransfers. Am Beispiel der Globalisierung werden im Seminar geschichtswissenschaftliche Forschungsansätze zur Moderne diskutiert.
