220276 The United Nations Conference on New and Renewable Sources of Energy (UNCNRSE), Nairobi 1981 and Its Impact (K) (SoSe 2025)

Contents, comment

In the Historical Contextualisation class, we will be researching the United Nations Conference on New and Renewable Sources of Energy (UNCNRSE), Nairobi 1981, using archival and newspaper sources. The aim is to provide further training in the research-based evaluation of historical material and in the writing of historical texts. To this end, each student will work on a specific topic relating to the preparation of the conference, the issues, their relation to the Brandt Commission and their impact (or non-impact) in different member states. This will be done by writing short essays in German or English. This research-based learning approach is intended to help students prepare for a larger project such as a Master's thesis.

Requirements for participation, required level

Students will be expected to participate actively and regularly in class, as the overall assessment will be based on a portfolio of different contributions.
