Nehmen wir einen Ausdruck A einer Sprache S. Dass A in S die Bedeutung B hat, ist eine semantische Tatsache. Doch was in der Welt ist eigentlich der Grund dafür, dass diese Tatsache besteht? Metasemantische Untersuchungen haben das Ziel, solche metaphysischen Erklärungen für semantische Tatsachen zu liefern. In diesem Seminar werden wir uns ein Verständnis der Metasemantik als eigenständige Disziplin erarbeiten. Das ist ein schwieriges Vorhaben, denn als recht neues sprachphilosophisches Forschungsfeld wird die Frage, wo eigentlich die Trennlinie zwischen Semantik und Metasemantik verläuft, noch leidenschaftlich diskutiert. Diese Diskussion werden wir zuerst gemeinsam nachzeichnen, und uns ggf. später -- wenn wir wissen, was Metasemantik ist -- die eine oder andere metasemantische Untersuchungen anschauen.
