Scheitern ist ein alltägliches Phänomen. Unternehmen melden Konkurs an; eine Regierung scheitert daran, ein Gesetz durchzubringen; Medien sprechen von "gescheiterten Existenzen"; man scheitert an seinen eigenen Ansprüchen. Aber wann lässt sich soziologisch überhaupt von "Scheitern" sprechen? Wie konzeptualisiert man dieses Phänomen? Inwiefern lässt sich überhaupt ein einheitliches Phänomen unterstellen? Welche Dynamiken, Folgen und Ursachen kommen in den Blick, wenn man soziologisch auf Scheitern und Scheiternde schaut?
Im Seminar soll auf explorative Weise eine Annäherung an das bislang unterforschte Phänomen "Scheitern" erfolgen. Teilnehmende sollten Theorieinteresse, Freude an Diskussionen und die Bereitschaft zur Lektüre auch schwierigerer (und englischsprachiger) Texte mitbringen.
