Welche Bürger_innen braucht die Demokratie? Welche Ziele kann politische Bildung in demokratischen Gesellschaften haben? Während einige Ziele unstrittig sind, wie z.B. Mündigkeit, sind andere umstritten. Je nachdem, welche Vorstellung von Demokratie verfolgt wird, sollen Bürger_innen mehr oder weniger partizipieren, gemeinwohlorientiert sein oder sich tolerant gegenüber Anderen zeigen. Wir diskutieren im Seminar die möglichen Ziele politischer Bildung im Kontext verschiedener demokratietheoretischer Denktraditionen. Was kann Partizipation bedeuten, wieviel Partizipation und welche ist überhaupt gewollt und wer partizipiert eigentlich tatsächlich? Wann ist jemand mündig und ist Mündikeit ein Widerspruch zu Gemeinwohlorientierung? Was bedeutet Toleranz und bei welchen Konflikten kann Toleranz hilfreich sein? Diesen Fragen gehen wir im Seminar auf der Basis ausgewählter Texte nach.
