Contents, comment

Die meisten Menschen glauben über viele ihrer Handlungen, dass sie auch anders hätten handeln können, als sie tatsächlich gehandelt haben. Die meisten Menschen glauben auch, dass die Welt von Naturgesetzen regiert wird, die die Zukunft mit Notwendigkeit bestimmen. Passen diese beiden Überzeugungen zusammen? Welche Bedingungen müssten vorliegen, damit wir sagen können, jemand habe willensfrei gehandelt? Und: Liegen diese Bedingungen tatsächlich vor? Im Seminar lesen und diskutieren wir klassische Texte zur Willensfreiheit, die diese Fragen zu beantworten versuchen.

Grundlage für eine Leistungsbescheinigung (im BA- oder Master of Education-Studiengang) sind neben der aktiven Teilnahme am Seminar drei kurze Essays, die im Laufe des Semesters geschrieben und ausführlich besprochen werden.

Wird am Anfang des Semesters bekannt gegeben. Ein großer Teil der Texte ist nur auf Englisch verfügbar. Einen Eindruck von der Debatte vermitteln (Schwierigkeitsgrad aufsteigend) die Internetseiten philosophieverstaendlich.de/freiheit und plato.standford.edu/entries/freewill sowie Robert Kanes "A Contemporary Introduction to Free Will", Oxford University Press 2005.
