261031 Mensch als Maschine - Maschine als Mensch (S) (WiSe 2016/2017)

Die Frage nach dem menschlichen Selbstverständnis wurde seit der Antike immer wieder auf die Analogie zum Artefakt bzw. zur Maschine bezogen, sei es in positiver oder in abgrenzender Weise. So entwickeln sich Menschenbild und verfügbare Technologie in gegenseitiger Abhängigkeit. In neuerer Zeit haben Forschungen wie die zur künstlichen Intelligenz, zur Robotik oder zum „artificial life“ die Imitation menschlicher Leistungen explizit als Ziel formuliert. Gleichzeitig scheinen Menschen durch den Einsatz neuer Technologie selbst maschinenähnlicher zu werden. Im Seminar sollen zentrale Texte aus der Antike, der Neuzeit und der Gegenwart diskutiert werden, um den Wandel des Verhältnisses von Menschen und Maschinen zu analysieren.
