This seminar explores the road movie genre as a quintessentially 'American' narrative to reflect the relations between self and other, self and society, center and margin, stasis and mobility. We analyze road movies from Canada, the U.S., and Latin America. Genre Studies, Mobility Studies, and Inter-American Studies paradigms form the theoretical matrix for the course.
