Die zweite von John Lockes „Zwei Abhandlungen über die Regierung“ (1690) ist ein Klassiker der neuzeitlichen Staatstheorie, der einen erheblichen Einfluss auf die bürgerlichen Revolutionen des 19. Jahrhunderts in Amerika und Frankreich hatte. An diesem Text lassen sich die Grundideen des liberalen Staates gut ablesen und diskutieren. Locke entwirft eine (moderate) Vertragstheorie, die auf Naturrechten basiert, er entwickelt eine prominente Theorie des Eigentums, und er stellt Überlegungen zur Gewaltenteilung, zum Mehrheitsprinzip sowie zum legitimen Widerstand an. Im Proseminar soll die zweite Abhandlung, die Lockes eigene politische Theorie enthält, in kurzen Abschnitten gründlich besprochen werden.

Im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltung können maximal 15 Hausarbeiten geschrieben werden.
