Das römische Recht ist der Vorläufer des auf dem europäischen Kontinent und in weiten Teilen der Welt geltenden Zivilrechts. Die Vorlesung, in deren Mittelpunkt das römische Privatrecht steht, versteht sich zugleich als eine Einführung in das geltende bürgerliche Recht. Sie umfasst auch einen Überblick über das Fortleben des römischen Rechts und damit über die europäische Privatrechtsgeschichte. Quellentexte werden mit Übersetzung zur Verfügung gestellt. Lateinkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich.
Durch erfolgreiche Teilnahme an der Semesterabschlussklausur kann der kleine Grundlagenschein gem. § 21 Abs. 2 Nr. 3 StudPrO 2012 erworben werden.
