230180 Globalization (S) (WiSe 2015/2016)

Contents, comment

The world today is believed to be more globalized than ever before, partly because of faster means of transportation and communication. Among other things, this has facilitated the exchange of goods and information and has thus led to increased mutual cultural influences across national and regional boundaries. Apart from the economic and the political, there is also an important cultural and ideological dimension to globalization. These will be focused upon in this seminar, while the important linguistic dimension stands at the centre of a seminar entitled ‘Language and Globalization’ offered by Professor Schröder. Students are strongly recommended to register for both courses, which have been designed to complement each other.
