Das Seminar dient der Einführung in die Sozialtheorie und Philosophie von Michel Foucault. Foucaults Theorien sind seit der zweiten Hälfte der vergangenen Jahrhunderts über die Philosophie hinaus von einem kaum zu überschätzenden Einfluss auf die soziologische Theorie. Wir werden uns in dem Seminar mit tragenden Konzepten dieser Theorie befassen: Diskurs, Macht, Subjekt, Wissen, Körper, Gouvernementalität und anderen. Wir werden aber auch versuchen, uns aus soziologischer Sicht kritisch mit diesen Konzepten zu befassen.

Die Seminarteilnahme setzt eine regelmäßige Seminarvorbereitung und die Bereitschaft zu Gruppenarbeiten voraus. Studienleistungen können durch das regelmäßige Verfassen von Seminarnachbereitungen sowie Kurzreferaten erworben werden, Einzelleistungen durch eine Hausarbeit.
